My Cambly Review

This is my own Cambly review based on my personal experiences teaching for Cambly.

I worked for Cambly for about two years and was a top performing tutor before pivoting to other teaching opportunities. Here’s what I learned about the platform while I was there.

How much can you realistically make on Cambly?

You can make about $1000 a month if you teach for Cambly seriously. I taught for Cambly for about two years and partnered it with another online English platofrm, and earned about 1K per month on the Cambly platform.

Cambly pays you about $10 an hour, so you really can’t earn more than a thousand a month or you’ll burn out.

Is tutoring on Cambly worth it?

Well, it depends.

If you are an expat and live in a low-cost-of-living country where the dollar has a fantastic exchange rate to the local currency, than Cambly is definitely worth it.

Earning $10.25 an hour is excellent if you are living in Vietnam, Thailand, Guatemala, or Bulgaria. You get the idea.

Also, it’s worth it to teach for Cambly if you have your TEFL or CELTA but just need some experience teaching. This platform is a great way to accumulate teaching hours.

What are the disadvantages of Cambly?

The main disadvantage of working for Cambly is the relatively low pay of $10 an hour.

More insidiously, another disadvantage is that there is no room for advancement at Cambly . This means, there is no real way to start earning more at Cambly.

No matter how great you are as a tutor, you’ll never earn more than $10.25 an hour because you don’t set your own rate.

If you do want to set your own rate, try some online tutoring platforms, instead. For example, consider working for Verbling, Preply, or iTalki, where you can set your own rates.

Is it hard to get hired by Cambly?

No, it is not hard to get hired by Cambly. In general it is easy to become a Cambly tutor. this one of the easiest platforms to start with if you don’t have teaching experience or a degree.

To teach for Cambly, you just need to be a native or near-native English speaker.

Then, there are very few additional requirements. When you teach at Cambly, you are chatting with students to help them improve their conversational skills, so lessons are more casual than other platforms.
