Working Independently: Booking Platforms

Want to build your own booking platform and work independently as an online English teacher?
You don’t need to work for another company or platform to teach online. You can teach English online, work entirely for yourself, and command the high pay you want by focusing on freelance ESL teaching.
However, to work independently as an online English teacher, you will need to make your own platform for lesson scheduling and payments.
Book with Google Calendar
The easiest first step to help students book you is just to post your classes and schedule on google calendar and then to make your google calendar public, and just ask students to email you with schedule changes. This isn’t dynamic, but it gets the job done.
On your computer, open Google Calendar. Settings. On the left, under “Settings for my calendars,” click the name of the calendar you want to share. Under “Access permissions for events,” check the box next to “Make available to public.”
Make your Own Booking Site to Teach English Online
If this interests you, you might be interested in reading the “Build Your Own Tutor Service Booking Website” e-book from Foreign Development English.
This e-book teaches you to set up your own platform for lesson scheduling and payments. It is a very easy-to-follow tutorial.

It will show you how to build your platform without knowing anything technical. You don’t need to know coding or web programming. Just follow this e-book step by step. By the end of the book, you will have created your own website with a fully functional booking and scheduling calendar.
This will allow you to accept payments from major providers like PayPal, Stripe (for debit/credit cards), and AliPay.

I did not write this e-book. It was written by Connor Smith. Feel free to leave comments below if this book helped you (or not).

Tips for Teaching English Online as an Independent Teacher
Also, reach out to the vast social network of online English Teachers. There is a Facebook Group for Online English Teachers called Teacher-Entrepreneur Network.
The Groups Description: “This group was created for ESL teachers who are looking to transform from teacher to teacher-entrepreneur with their own business that allows them to get their OWN students online and charge over $100 an hour teaching ESL. This is not another ESL teacher group where you can keep yourself up to date on new ESL companies, company rates/reviews, full-time/part-time job opportunities.”
And happy independent teaching!

Bottom Line: If you want to be a totally independent freelance online English teacher, you must build your own booking platform. Read “Build Your Own Tutor Service Booking Website,” an e-book from Foreign Development English that can guide you. Then join the Facebook group: Online Teachers – Independent, Fulfilled & HIGHLY Paid! for more support and networking.
“Most of us end up with no more than five or six people who remember us. Teachers have thousands of people who remember them for the rest of their lives.”
