Working Independently: Booking Platforms

Build your own Booking and Scheduling Platform to Teach English Online

Want to build your own booking platform and work independently as an online English teacher?

You don’t need to work for another company or platform to teach online. You can teach English online, work entirely for yourself, and command the high pay you want by focusing on freelance ESL teaching.

However, to work independently as an online English teacher, you will need to make your own platform for lesson scheduling and payments.

Book with Google Calendar

The easiest first step to help students book you is just to post your classes and schedule on google calendar and then to make your google calendar public, and just ask students to email you with schedule changes. This isn’t dynamic, but it gets the job done.

On your computer, open Google Calendar. Settings. On the left, under “Settings for my calendars,” click the name of the calendar you want to share. Under “Access permissions for events,” check the box next to “Make available to public.”

Tips for Teaching English Online as an Independent Teacher

Also, reach out to the vast social network of online English Teachers. There is a Facebook Group for Online English Teachers called Teacher-Entrepreneur Network.

The Groups Description: “This group was created for ESL teachers who are looking to transform from teacher to teacher-entrepreneur with their own business that allows them to get their OWN students online and charge over $100 an hour teaching ESL. This is not another ESL teacher group where you can keep yourself up to date on new ESL companies, company rates/reviews, full-time/part-time job opportunities.”

And happy independent teaching!
